An Teallach Mountaineering Club

Morvich

Undaunted by the return to winter 3 of us joined the An Teallach MC for a weekend in Kintail staying at the Morvich Outdoor Centre. Plans to do ridge walks had to be put on hold.
Some people arrived early on the Friday to make the most of the weekend and climbed Ciste Dubhe near the Cluanie Inn while others arrived late evening.
On Saturday we split into roughly 3 groups - a group did Ciste Dubhe, another the Forcan Ridge and the last did some walking/sightseeing around Glen Elg. Of the 3 groups the Glen Elg'ers got the best of the weather while the Ciste Dubher's got the worst (very wet at low level turning to snow (4 or 5 inches on the ridge) above 2000 ft). The Ciste Dubhe group ended the day's walk at The Cluanie Inn drying off in front of the fire, eating soup and having a few drinks. Saturday night was curry night where the club put on a delicious spread (5 different curries to choose from plus all the trimmings). This was followed by the ATMC AGM.
After a late night for some, Sunday saw a few hardy souls staying on to do other walks in the area, some just went home to dry out while others stopped off on the way home to reccie a possible route for a sponsored walk later in the year on Carn Dearg near Newtonmore. After walking in increasingly unpleasant conditions and once we'd all agreed 'it was good to be out' we decided to cut the day short and head back to Edinburgh.
An enjoyable weekend in spite of the weather but the 5 Sisters will have to wait for another day.
