Meets

Given the geographical spread of our club members, we find it easier to meet up for weekends, although we do have the occasional day meet. There is at least one weekend meet per month, running from a Friday to Sunday evening. We try to use club huts as much as we can, although we also use hostels, bunkhouses and tents too. Our meet secretary sets the schedule, although a co-ordinator volunteers for each meet to spread the load.

Meets normally start on Friday evening with a couple of beers and an exploration of possible routes for the Saturday. Members break into informal groups, selecting the route or hills that appeals to them most. Saturday morning starts early with the groups setting off having shared route details and expected return times.

Saturday evening is often communally catered which often unearths some great culinary talents. Tales of the day are shared and the topics of the day are actively debated. Sometimes a song before supper and a last dram. Plans are made for Sunday, and members drift off to their sleeping bags.

Sunday morning is often shepherded in with sunshine and tired limbs are encouraged (sometimes without success!) to set off for more adventures.

Someone writes up the meet and submits this and a few photos for the club log. Some of these are shared on this site.

Our meets list is shown on a separate page, please contact us if something appeals.
