Strawberry Cottage
General Information.
Our hut is based in the remote and beautiful Glen Affric giving access to several magnificent Munro's. It is in a setting guaranteed to take your breath away and offers the chance to get away from it all and do some serious exploration. We have refurbished the Cottage into one of the best-equipped huts in the country over recent years.
Bookings are normally restricted to clubs affiliated to the Mountaineering Council of Scotland and the British Mountaineering Council.
Huts in remote places are a bit special, but they do have their drawbacks. Strawberry Cottage is five miles from the nearest public road. The last five miles are on rough track and snow can make this impossible for ordinary cars. During prolonged periods of heavy rain the River Affric can rise very quickly indeed and in such conditions the normal parking area can be liable to flooding. Clubs should take these factors into consideration when making a booking.
Location.
OS Sheet 25 GR 132207.
It is only 43 miles from Inverness, but this takes almost two hours of motoring.
The 11 miles of public road from Cannich is single track with passing places
and then the rough track for another five miles.
From August to February deer stalking is an important part of the local economy. We ask clubs to co-operate with the stalkers, especially during the stag-shooting season from August 12th to October 20th.
